Consultation Services

The following provides information about how the Center's consultative services work.

How do I know if consultative services are needed?

After contacting the 24 hour crisis line, a determination will be made about whether or not to provide consultative services.

Who will provide the consultation?

The Center will send one or two specialists to the individual’s home to assess the needs of both the individual and their staff.  A CMHSP representative will be involved in the introduction of the specialist(s) to the home and the caregivers.  The specialists may include a Social Worker/Support Coordinator (SW/SC), Psychologist, or Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP).

What will happen after the consultation?

The consultation will result in written recommendations based on interviews with relevant personnel and observation.  The recommendations will primarily address training needs of the caregivers although they may include suggestions for the direct service provider, the environment or the plan of service.  This will be done within one week of service request.
